| As a former student of Achille Castiglioni, Spanish industrial designer Patricia Urquiola, born in 1961, knows that innovation is the result of social expectations and solid artisanship. In the past seven years, her studio has become well-known for avant-garde designs, creating modern icons for many leading companies including amongst others Moroso, Driade and Rosenthal. She recently designed the „Landscape“ Dining Concept for the German manufacturer‘s studio line which combines western tabletop culture with the oriental tradition of spontaneous and versatile tableware. Delicate and ornamental reliefs are often arranged asymmetrically, sometimes covering the entire surface. „These patterns are the result of an archaeological-like exploration through our cultural memories” describes Urquiola her work. „The result is a new interpretation in a modern digitalised language.” contact Rosenthal AG www.rosenthal.de |
